PTA Welcome Back!

September 5, 2012

Jambo Harambee Wazazi (parents)!

The Harambee PTA (Parents Taking Action) welcomes you to a new and extremely exciting school year! We pray that you had a fantastic summer vacation and are ready to start this school year off with a bang and Nia (purpose). One of the things that we love about Harambee the most is its warm, open, and supportive family atmosphere. We are very fortunate to have an amazing group of capable walimu (teachers). They are motivated and dedicated to help our watoto (children) reach their academic and personal goals.

Research demonstrates that parental involvement in schools enhances learning and increases academic success. It helps create an atmosphere of Umoja (unity), family, trust, and Ujima (collective work and responsibility). The PTA is here to actively demonstrate that we all are an integral part of our watoto’s (children's) educational experiences, and that a joint effort will yield a positive return. We are inviting you to become the newest member of this ever expanding family of deeply committed and progressive wazazi (parents). Attached is our PTA registration form and volunteer sign-up sheet for you to complete.

Please join us in taking part in the PTA’s efforts this year in any way you can. We are all wazazi (parents) just like you, juggling very busy careers and hectic family schedules. We understand just how difficult it can be to add one more thing, but we also understand that our watoto (children) need us to step up and help them at this crucial and critical time in their educational development. Parent meetings are held every 3rd Tuesday at 6:30pm and PTA meetings are held every 2nd Tuesday at 6:30pm. We really hope to see you there!

Asante Sana (Thank you very much) and welcome back!
